The Youth Dialogue Association in Dannieh has concluded the “Dawrik” project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the British Council in cooperation with the Municipality of Deir Nbouh, aimed at empowering women through reform, inclusion, and confidence-building in the town of Deir Nbouh – Dannieh.
The ceremony was attended by the President of the Union of Dannieh Municipalities (and Mayor of Deir Nbouh) Mr. Mohammad Saadieh, Director of the Dannieh Care and Development Complex Eng. Mazen Al-Ayoubi, President of the Dannieh Mukhtars Association Mr. Mustafa Al-Samad, Dr. Nizar Raad, along with several mayors and mukhtars.
Project coordinator Sandra Aoun opened the ceremony, affirming that “women’s empowerment in Dannieh is one of the core objectives of the Youth Dialogue Association,” noting that the Association will continue implementing similar initiatives across the region to support women’s economic participation and social integration.
She highlighted that the “Dawrik” project helped develop women’s skills in food production, strengthened their role in balanced economic development, and enhanced positive behaviors within family life.
Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Amina Mray presented the project’s phases and outcomes over its four-month duration, explaining the training modules and emphasizing that the experience “refined the participants’ personalities and enriched their knowledge and skills in various fields.”
She expressed gratitude to the President of the Union of Municipalities for his continuous support for women and his efforts to foster an educated and aware generation.
In his remarks, President Saadieh stressed that “women are partners in the development process that advances society scientifically, economically, socially, and culturally.” He highlighted the strength and resilience of Lebanese women in general, and the women of Dannieh in particular.
He also launched an initiative to establish a women’s cooperative in Deir Nbouh to produce, package, and market food products, enabling women to become equal partners in the production process.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates of participation to the trainees and recognition shields to contributors who played a key role in the success of the project.
